Oxide Ceramics
Advanced Oxide Ceramic Materials for Industrial and High-Temperature Applications
Edgetech Industries supplies a comprehensive range of advanced oxide ceramic materials for industrial, electronic, mechanical, and high-temperature applications. Known for their excellent hardness, wear resistance, thermal stability, electrical insulation, and chemical resistance, oxide ceramics are widely used in demanding operating environments where conventional materials may not provide sufficient performance.
Our oxide ceramic product range includes Alumina (Al₂O₃), Zirconia (ZrO₂), and Magnesia (MgO). Available in various grades, shapes, and dimensions, these materials can be supplied as standard ceramic components or precision-machined parts according to customer drawings and application requirements.
Our Oxide Ceramic Materials
1. Alumina Ceramics (Al₂O₃)
Alumina (Al₂O₃) is one of the most widely used advanced ceramic materials, offering an excellent combination of mechanical strength, hardness, electrical insulation, wear resistance, and chemical stability. Its high melting point and excellent resistance to corrosion make it suitable for a wide range of industrial and high-temperature applications.
Depending on the alumina content and purity level, alumina ceramics can be manufactured with different physical and mechanical properties to meet specific application requirements. High-purity alumina is particularly suitable for semiconductor equipment, electrical components, and applications requiring excellent chemical and plasma resistance.
Edgetech Industries supplies alumina plates, substrates, rods, tubes, multi-bore tubes, discs, crucibles, boats, flanges, rotors, bushings, fasteners, and other complex or custom-machined ceramic components. Alumina ceramic membranes are also available for filtration applications.
Key Properties:
- High hardness and excellent wear resistance
- Excellent electrical insulation
- High mechanical strength
- Good corrosion and chemical resistance
- High-temperature stability
- Available in different purity grades
Typical Applications:
- Semiconductor manufacturing equipment
- Electrical and electronic insulation components
- High-temperature furnace tubes and crucibles
- Precision mechanical and wear-resistant parts
- Laboratory equipment and sample processing
- Ceramic filtration and separation systems
2. Zirconia Ceramics (ZrO₂)
Zirconia (ZrO₂), also known as zirconium dioxide, is an advanced ceramic material distinguished by its high fracture toughness, mechanical strength, hardness, and wear resistance. Compared with many other ceramic materials, zirconia offers a favorable combination of strength and toughness, making it suitable for applications involving mechanical stress, friction, and demanding operating conditions.
Zirconia ceramics are commonly stabilized with materials such as yttria (Y₂O₃), magnesia (MgO), ceria (CeO₂), or calcia (CaO) to improve phase stability and control their physical and mechanical properties. Different stabilized zirconia grades are available for structural, thermal, and functional ceramic applications.
Edgetech Industries supplies zirconia rods, sheets, tubes, crucibles, ceramic rings, sleeves, grinding media, jars, and other customized components. Our product range also includes Yttria-Stabilized Zirconia (YSZ), Magnesia-Stabilized Zirconia, Ceria-Stabilized Zirconia, and Zirconia-Toughened Alumina (ZTA).
Key Properties:
- High fracture toughness compared with many conventional ceramics
- Excellent mechanical strength and hardness
- Outstanding wear and abrasion resistance
- Good thermal insulation
- Excellent chemical stability
- Oxygen-ion conductivity in selected stabilized grades
Typical Applications:
- Precision mechanical components and wear parts
- Grinding media and milling jars
- Ceramic seals, sleeves, and pump components
- Oxygen sensors and solid oxide fuel cells
- High-temperature crucibles and furnace components
- Medical and dental ceramic applications
3. Magnesia Ceramics (MgO)
Magnesia (MgO), also known as magnesium oxide, is a high-temperature ceramic material with excellent refractory properties, chemical stability, and resistance to corrosion from many metals and alkaline environments. Its high melting point and thermal stability make it suitable for specialized furnace applications, metallurgical processes, and high-temperature material handling.
High-purity magnesia ceramics are particularly useful in applications where contamination must be minimized during thermal processing. MgO ceramic components can maintain their performance under demanding high-temperature conditions, depending on the atmosphere and operating environment.
Edgetech Industries supplies magnesia ceramic tubes and crucibles, as well as customized MgO ceramic components manufactured according to specific requirements.
Key Properties:
- Excellent high-temperature resistance
- High melting point and thermal stability
- Good chemical and corrosion resistance
- High purity options for demanding applications
